Will I need an interpreter to work with your law firm?
At Ellison Hernandez, PLLC, we are committed to ensuring that language is never a barrier to receiving high-quality legal representation.
If you speak a language other than English, please bring a trusted family member or friend to assist with communication during meetings. We want you to feel supported and understood.
If necessary, our office has access to professional language interpretation services that can be used for meetings, phone calls, or video conferences for a fee.
What can I expect at the initial consultation?
Your initial consultation with Ellison Hernandez, PLLC is a dedicated time to meet directly with the attorney to discuss your immigration goals and concerns. During this meeting, the attorney will:
• Ask you about the reason for your consultation
• Review the background and complexity of your case
• Provide a preliminary assessment of your options, potential outcomes, and next steps
• Answer your questions and address any immediate concerns you may have
If you decide to move forward with representation, the attorney will provide you with a written contract for review and signature at the end of the meeting.
What do I need for my initial consultation?
At your initial consultation, please be prepared to answer questions and provide information about the following:
• Your current citizenship or nationality
• When and how you entered the United States
• How many times you have entered the United States
• Your family history
• If you are married: the date of your marriage and spouse’s citizenship
• If you have children: the dates of birth of your children and their citizenship status
If you have ever been arrested in the United States or in any other country, please be prepared to provide:
• The date of your arrest
• The reason for the arrest
• Whether you were formally charged with a crime, and if so, what the charge was
• The outcome of the arrest (conviction, dismissal, or no charges filed)
• Whether you served any jail time, and if so, how much
Criminal history can affect eligibility for certain immigration benefits, so having accurate information available during your consultation is essential to receiving informed legal advice.
Do I have to live in Texas to work with you?
No. Because Ellison Hernandez, PLLC is a fully remote immigration law firm, we are able to serve clients anywhere in the United States—or even outside the country.
How much do your services cost?
At Ellison Hernandez, PLLC, we believe in transparent, predictable pricing—which is why we use a flat-fee billing structure for most immigration matters. That means you’ll know the total cost of your legal representation before we begin working on your case, with no surprise hourly charges.
However, because every immigration case is different, the total fee can vary depending on:
• The type of immigration benefit you’re seeking
• The complexity or urgency of your situation
• Whether you have previous immigration or criminal history
• The number of family members involved
How do I communicate with you if you are a fully remote law firm?
At Ellison Hernandez, PLLC, we are proud to be a fully remote immigration law firm—which means you can access legal services from anywhere, without needing to travel.
We offer multiple communication options to meet your preferences and needs, including:
• Zoom video meetings
• Phone calls and secure texting
• A secure client portal where you can send messages, check your case status, and upload or download documents
What if I want to meet with you in person?
Because we are a fully remote immigration law firm geared toward assisting clients all over the nation and the world, we are unable to accommodate in-person consultations.
However, if your case requires in-person representation—such as in Immigration Court or for certain agency appearances— Mrs. Ellison Hernandez will appear with you, in person, as detailed in your representation agreement.
Why do you charge an initial consultation fee?
Here at Ellison Hernandez, PLLC, we take every consultation seriously. We dedicate time and attention to each prospective client by reviewing documents, preparing for the meeting, and considering the best strategies and legal options based on your unique situation.
Because of this preparation and our legal expertise, we charge a $250 consultation fee. This fee is non-refundable. However, if you decide to hire us following your consultation, the $250 will be credited toward your total legal fees with the firm.
How long will my case take?
Each immigration case is unique and the timeline depends on several factors, including the type of application, the time of filing, and the complexity of your individual situation.
Some cases may be resolved quickly, while others—particularly certain forms of relief within the immigration system—may take a year, 18 months, or longer to process.
During your consultation, the attorney will be able to provide a more specific estimate based on the details of your case and the type of relief you may be eligible for. While we cannot guarantee processing times, we are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way.
